Get your credit report for free

Since maintaining a good credit rating is important in today's society, a poor credit rating can have a negative snowball effect toward your personal goals. For this reason repairing your credit is important. But you can't repair your credit unless you know exactly what's in your credit report. So you should get a copy of your credit report. Under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) you have the right to get free credit report once every 12 months from three major credit bureau including Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union.

Credit reports contain personal information about you, including your current and past use of credit cards; loans; any defaults on bills such as utility payments or doctor's bills. The best way to get your free report is online on the internet. Search "free credit report" online and you'll pull up dozens of come-ons. But be wary of any site that promises a free credit report, then asks for your credit card number.
