The Preconceptional Visit

If you are planning to become pregnant, you may wish to schedule with your practitioner for preconceptional visit. A preconceptional visit is increasingly being integrated into prenatal care and is now routinely recommended by most doctor. The preconceptional visit is visiting your practitioner to be sure your body is tuned up and ready for pregnancy. Preconceptional care can guide you in planning a healthy pregnancy. It is wise to include the patient's partner in the preconceptional visit.

A preconceptional visit is important to detect previously unidentified disease. But, if you’re already pregnant and didn’t have a preconceptional visit, don’t worry. Your practitioner will give you valuable information about pregnancy at your first prenatal visit.
