Medications during pregnancy

Medication use should be limited due to risk to the fetus. Some drugs are safe to use during pregnancy and others are not. When a woman takes medication during pregnancy, it always raises the possibility that the medication may have influenced the birth defect. Most physician insist not to take any medication whatsoever unless it is definitely necessary.

However, there may be certain situations when it is appropriate to use a medication during pregnancy. If you’re taking medications essential for your health, discuss them with your physician prior to stopping them or changing your dose or regimen.
